PITTSBURGH, PA — August 13, 2026 — Downtown Pittsburgh was buzzing Thursday evening as Point Park University’s Pittsburgh Playhouse opened its doors for the Breakthrough Sessions: Tomorrow's Music Today series at the Highmark Theatre.
Featuring local powerhouse group Melinda and the Night Sky, the evening brought together community members, music lovers, and students for an intimate, high-energy live performance in the heart of the city’s cultural district.

The state-of-the-art Pittsburgh Playhouse provided a sleek, dynamic backdrop for the performance. Known for its world-class acoustic design and intimate theater spaces, the Highmark Theatre allowed attendees to experience regional blues, rock, and soul music up close.

The performance from Melinda and the Night Sky tonight absolutely blew my mind away. I loved every single moment of it and, quite frankly, I didn't want to leave my seat. I stayed for the entire set, captivated from start to finish. It was fantastic, it was wonderful, and it was a true privilege to witness. Bravo to Melinda, bravo to her band for their incredible musicianship, and bravo to Point Park University for consistently being exactly who they set out to be. Point Park University is doing a fantastic job at the Pittsburgh Playhouse, continuing to foster an environment where truly remarkable art comes to life.
