WHAT TO DO IN PITTSBURGH PA

2026 Pittsburgh Pet Expo Takes Over Downtown Convention Center

Nation's Largest Pet Exposition Returns to the Tri-State Region with Two Acres of Entertainment, Commerce, and Rescue Outreach

PITTSBURGH — The David L. Lawrence Convention Center was transformed into a massive hub of tail-wagging excitement as the 2026 Pittsburgh Pet Expo opened its doors in Downtown Pittsburgh. Spanning two full acres of exhibit space, the annual event stands as the largest pet exposition in the nation, welcoming thousands of tri-state region attendees alongside hundreds of leashed four-legged guests.

High-Flying Action and Family Entertainment

This year's showcase features a dynamic slate of live arena events and interactive attractions:

  • Dock Diving Competitions: Powered by North America Diving Dogs, canine athletes put on impressive displays of distance jumping into a dedicated indoor pool complex.

  • High Performance Canines: Agility demonstrations, high-speed flyball runs, and trick routines ran continuously throughout the opening session.

  • Doxie Downs Wiener Dog Races: Sanctioned by the International Wiener Dog Racing Federation, the high-energy dachshund sprint series drew packed bleachers.

  • Specialty Arenas: Unique additions including pig races at the Pork Chop Revue, turtle track heats, and rabbit hopping agility courses kept crowds engaged across every corner of the floor.

  • Santa Photos: Bring your pets down to meet Santa and capture holiday photos throughout the weekend.

Community Rescue & Local Commerce

Beyond the headline shows, the heart of the Pittsburgh Pet Expo remains grounded in animal welfare and local business support. Over 300 vendor booths are packed along the convention floor, showcasing regional pet care providers, specialty nutrition brands, handmade gear, and professional grooming services.

Crucially, dozens of area shelters and rescue networks are on-site conducting adoption meet-and-greets, offering educational resources on foster programs, local spay/neuter outreach, and community wellness services.
