Three Rivers News

PITTSBURGH — Talk about a matchup built on pure regional pride. This Wednesday night at F.N.B. Field in Station Square, we have an absolute showdown on the pitch.

On one side, you have Penn West California stacked with young bucks who grew up under Friday night lights right here in Western PA, playing on this exact turf for WPIAL high school championships. They are coming up the Monongahela back to Pittsburgh with one clear message: This is still our turf.

On the other side stands Point Park University, boasting a stacked roster assembled from across state lines and around the world. Point Park is looking to establish its presence at Station Square, but Cal U’s local contingent isn't about to hand over the keys to the city.

The Matchup at a Glance

• Penn West California: Homegrown WPIAL Alumni | Championship familiarity with F.N.B. Field

• Point Park Pioneers: Out-of-State & International Imports | Fast-paced, dynamic global style

It’s local roots vs. global reach. Bragging rights as Western Pennsylvania's premier collegiate soccer squad are squarely on the line this Wednesday night. Game is at 7:00 P.M. Or go on https://mountaineast.tv/
