PITTSBURGH — The Point Park University men's soccer team suffered a narrow setback at home against Davis & Elkins College in Mountain East Conference (MEC) play.

Despite a determined offensive effort and structured tactical play on their home turf, the visiting Senators capitalized on key opportunities in the closing stretches to secure the conference victory.

 

Match Breakdown & Analysis:

 

Point Park focused on a high press and disciplined defensive positioning early on to control the tempo. Both squads battled through heavy pitch conditions and relentless midfield play in a tightly contested contest.

Point Park generated intense pressure during critical stretches—earning late set-piece opportunities and pushing forward in search of the equalizer—but were unable to convert before time expired.

 

Post-Game Reaction: Conference Play Drive

1st Question:

D&E did a great job crowding the center of the field, which made it tougher to play through them. So it wasn't so much their pressure that tripped us up, but more our speed of play in trying to move around them.

 

2nd Question:
We were slow out of the gate offensively today. I think we also missed some counter-attacking opportunities. Moving forward, we have to stick to what helps us generate offense, staying on the ball and connecting through the channels. We need to be more aggressive in getting forward.

​On Staying Focused:

It was all about... obviously we enjoy it, scoring's hard, winning's hard, but I was talking to our team, telling them, 'Hey, stay in it. Stay focused, stay organized, and ultimately see out the game.' I'm very proud of our group. It took every single one of us today.

 

On Conference Competition:

 

The conference is a tough conference. I'm proud of this group. Our staff works extremely hard to prepare our team, and our team shows up every day and works to go 1-0 each day, and it's paying off... I'm super proud of them.
